Exquisite, Heavily Ornate,Orig.Victorian Gas Light Lamp
Place a bid
This is an original 1800’s Era Victorian Gas Light Table Lamp (Electrified) featuring an outstandingly heavily ornate base, a Period Victorian Angel Figure, a reverse painted puffy floral Pairpoint type shade and an old beaded fringe.
The angel is posed holding up the gas light. Unfortunately, this beautiful, original Art Glass shade has crack lines in various areas and is missing some glass on top. No repairs were made to the shade, except for a small half inch to one inch irregular piece of glass glued back. If desired, the lamp shade could be discussed with a professional repair person to see if it is repairable. The shade is photographed for your viewing.
The lamp takes a ten inch fitter shade on a shade holder. The old light socket is signed: “Weber Association 250W 250 V”.
The lamp still has its original cock at the bottom of the base, which turned the gas off and on and also has the piping going inside the base. These are photographed for your viewing.
These lamps were usually electrified in the 1920’s.
The lamp is approximately 24 inches high and the shade is approximately 12 inches wide.
Besides the above, the lamp appears to be in very good condition.
The very old cloth covered cord should be replaced for safety reasons.
These old original Victorian Gas Light Lamps are getting hard to find!
It would make a wonderful addition for a collection/display/use! |
