A GENUINE 19th century antique item not a modern resin reprodution piece
Much decoration very busy with lots going on to all sides which is very fine but done in a naive manner
There is an native man lasooing a moose or karibou struggling to hold on and been dragged (the karibou has left foot prints in the snow)
The piece is also decorated with othere hunting scenes to include a handsome polar bear a walrus and two other mammals one snared in trap which i think may be beaver or muskrat, also a running hare heading for cover in some grass or similar plant
The cross hatched scuffy work is coloured largely in black but there are areas of faded red and green
Patination is glossy and is a creamy colour - condition is very good sturdy with age cracks (not splits) as to expected there are 3 bone pegs which are worn which make the board stay level when used these may need replacing if you wished to use the piece as a cribbage board
