Place a bid
From one of the famous early potters in Stoke-on-Trent, Charles Allerton and Sons we are pleased to offer this child's matching bowl and underliner, c. 1890. The pattern is known as "Stag". Each piece has an antlered stag at its center with floral decorations and, interestingly, a Chinese junque in an Asian setting around it. A decorated ribbon runs through the center. The plate measures approximately 17cm (6 3/4") wide; the bowl is about 5"(13cm) wide and a fraction under 3cm ( 1") deep. The brown transferware patterns are in excellent, undamaged condition with virtually no crazing. There is a small flake underneath the edge of the plate. It is completely out of sight when the plate is viewed in any normal presentation angle. There are no other isuues with either piece other than some age related roughness and spotty discoloration to the undersides. Both pieces have the Allerton and Sons backstamp dating to the 1890 era. |
