EXQUISITE ANTIQUE ENGLISH ESTATE ELEGANT BRASS MARITIME TRAVELER'S VICTORIAN INKWELL WITH AN ETCHED SHIP'S ANCHOR MAKER MARK ON THE LID OF THE INKWELL AND A MARK ON THE RIM OF THE BRASS INKWELL FEATURING THE LETTERS PRIV AND A ROYAL LION CREST AND STUNNING GRAY COLORED METAL EXTERIOR COVERING AND ORIGINAL GLASS INKWELL INSERT Stunning early Victorian Mariner's Travel Inkwell with original brass hardware, springs and latches and original glass inkwell bottle still intact.  The interior brass inkwell cover has a very distinct maker marking an etched drawing of a vintage anchor on the brass inkwell cover cap.   This Travel Inkwell is typically smaller than an inkwell that would have been a permanent piece for use in the Victorian English homes.   Recently purchased from an estate in London, England.  The estate had this listed as Victorian Mariner's Travel Inkwell and had it dated circa early Victorian Period.  I do not recognise the English maker's mark and have had a difficult time trying to research the 19th century company mark.  The mark can be seen in my close-up pictures below the description.   Simply elegant  in design and beauty and the original gray metal exterior covering is still intact with only minor age discoloration.   This Mariner's Inkwell is in lovely vintage condition with a few expected dents and dings to the brass.   The Travel Inkwell measures 2" in width and 1 3/4" in height.   It has a brass button on the front which pops open the inkwell when pushed.  The interior inkwell latch is still intact and springs open when the latch is turned or pushed.
