East Liverpool Ohio Vintage Found this at an estate sale. This very collectible googley eyed Dutch Kid plate has a saying under the kids that reads, ''Luf is some noding dot ickles two hearts mit de sam somedings. Obviously, this is not Dutch or German with the sprinkling of English words throughout. I think it means that Love is some ''nothing'' that tickles two hearts with the same ''something''. Two decal and handpainted kids in wooden shoes, he with his HUGe googley eyes are walking arm in arm. There is a nice, detailed karat gold inner border design with pale teal lustre as the exterior border. This is marked with the O. G. McMeel Pottery Co. East Liverpool, Ohio mark in brown. This company was a well known maker of calendar plates.  I am sure this dates from the very late teens to early twenties, given the style and the lustre border. There are no chips or cracks. There is some surface wear, crazing and some scratching but otherwise very nice condition. Please excuse the round price sticker residue. I ran out of goo gone before I took pictures. It measures 9'' in diameter. This will be very cute with a plate hanger and displayed on the wall. If you collect Dutch Kid items, this will make a great addition to your collection.
