How cool is this great vintage original (signed by the artist Defalque) watercolor painting of a sunbonnet baby. This reminds me of Joan Walsh Anglund with her little books from the 60's and 70's. I found out that this artist is still living and she now does collage/assemblage art. Maybe these were early piece in a different vein, perhaps these were done for a friend or to decorate her own daughter's room. I found them at an estate sale (I have another piece listed on another of my auctions.) This one depicts the little girl on the beach, her hat festooned with cute firecracker tassels. She is building a sandcastle and has a toy sailboat by her side. Red sandals and a cute denim look bathing suit complete the look.
